2024 World Citizen Award Dinner

Since 1990, the World Affairs Council of Charlotte has presented the World Citizen Award to prominent citizens (and organizations) who have enhanced our community’s standing in the world through their accomplishments of international significance and contributions to the city, this region, and our international community.

This year, the Council is honored to present the 2024 World Citizen Award to Eugene A. Woods, MBA, MHA, FACHE, is Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Health.

2024 Harold P. Josephson Award
The evening will include a special segment honoring Rina Arline, former WACC board member and senior executive at Bank of America, who advocates for diversity and inclusion initiatives in the greater Charlotte region.

The Harold P. Josephson Award is given to individuals who have contributed significantly to WACC and the international life of the community.

Rina Arline is a Managing Director and Program Director for Bank of America’s Breakthrough Lab, a global accelerator for pre-seed stage tech startups. At the bank, she also serves as the co-chair of the AAPI Power of 10 Program and Executive Sponsor for the Asian Leadership Network-Charlotte.

Prior to her current position which she assumed in 2021, Rina worked in Global Payments Services (GPS) as a sales lead. Her team generated $200+ million in annual revenue and managed over $10 billion in corporate deposits. In addition to her 20-year career with the bank, Rina has worked at Truist in payments and at BBVA USA in treasury sales.

Rina holds a BA in History and Political Science from Guilford College and an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Rina is active in her local and global communities, serving as a board member for the World Affairs Council of Charlotte for 2018-2023 and an active Rotarian. Through her work with the Cherie Blair Mentoring Women Program, Rina has also mentored women small business owners across the globe.

Rina resides with her husband Chris in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Nairobi, Kenya and immigrated to the US in her early teens.
