Mid-Year Fundraising Campaign

Dear WACC Friends and Supporters,

Right now, the world is moving fast. And the stakes feel higher than ever.

  • A global economy rattled by supply chain challenges and geopolitical instability.
  • The future of transatlantic alliances hangs in the balance.
  • War in Ukraine is in its fourth year with no clear end in sight.
  • The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence reshaping industries, governments, and daily life.
  • Ongoing struggle for control over the Strait of Hormuz and current oil supply disruption.
  • Energy costs are reaching new heights. Food insecurity is rising on nearly every continent.

Sound familiar? These aren’t just news headlines. They’re the forces shaping YOUR business, OUR community, and CHARLOTTE’S future.

At the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, our job is to help you make sense of the world with real-time insights, from trusted voices, and without political agendas.

The Council is strictly non-partisan and receives no government funding at any level.

WACC’s financial support comes from people and organizations that value the importance of global engagement. That means the perspectives we bring to the Charlotte region aren’t filtered through political lenses or shaped by outside interests.

When you attend a WACC event, you can trust the information you hear, something especially vital in an age shaped by misinformation and bots.

In the last five months, the Council has brought world-class foreign policy and national security speakers, American and foreign diplomats, C-suite executives and decision-makers, economic experts, and thought leaders directly to our community by hosting conversations about the U.S.-China relationship, conflict and war, the future of work, transatlantic partnerships, AI, and cybersecurity, and more.

Through our educational programming in the first half of 2026, we’ve connected more than 200 high school and college students with global perspectives they wouldn’t otherwise have access to, and selected 10 educators to travel abroad this summer through our Council Scholar program to bring international experience back into Charlotte area classrooms.

Fact: Since 1994, we have sent more than 175 teachers abroad as part of the WACC’s Council Scholar Award Program.

Because we believe Charlotte residents, students, and business leaders shouldn’t just watch the world happen, they should understand it.

As we head into the second half of the year, we’re inviting you to make a tax-deductible contribution to WACC. Whether you give $5, $50, or $500, you are directly investing in fact-based, nonpartisan global education for our community at a moment when it has never been more critical.

The work we do in Charlotte happens because of supporters like you.

Help us continue opening doors, broadening perspectives, and making sure Charlotte has a seat at the global table.
