WorldQuest

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte created WorldQuest in 1997 as part of its international education outreach initiatives. Today, it has become a signature education program for councils around the country.

Teams from local businesses, community groups, non-profit organizations and higher education institutions compete in this international knowledge competition. Participants answer questions related to current events, geography, international politics, world history and foreign policy.

This signature Council program is supported by Carolinas HealthCare System, Bank of America and UNC Charlotte. This year’s WorldQuest competition will be held on November 8th at The Hilton Charlotte Center City.

Proceeds from WQ2017 will benefit the following education outreach initiatives:

  • Academic WorldQuest
  • Council Scholar Award Program
  • Global Ambassador Programs
  • Euro Challenge
  • Young Explorers Essay Competition
  • Speaker in the Classroom
  • International Career Panel
  • Partnerships with local higher education institutions for International Education Week and the International Speaker Series Program

WorldQuest Events

Nov. 8: Joint WorldQuest / Academic WorldQuest 2017

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte will host WorldQuest together with Academic WorldQuest, our high school version of WQ, for the 8th time since 2010. WorldQuest was created by the WACC and has grown into a nationwide international knowledge competition played by councils around the country. The thrill of competition and enthusiasm for world affairs has made this program one of our most successful education initiatives in the greater Charlotte area.

Joint WorldQuest / Academic WorldQuest (November 10th, 2016)

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte will host WorldQuest together with Academic WorldQuest, our high school version of WQ, for the 7th time since 2010. WorldQuest was created by the WACC and has grown into a nationwide international knowledge competition played by councils around the country. The thrill of competition and enthusiasm for world affairs has made this program one of our most successful education initiatives in the greater Charlotte area.
