Biography

Gregory Weeks received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 and joined the UNC Charlotte Department of Latin American Studies in 2000. He teaches and does research on Latin American politics, U.S.-Latin American relations, and immigration. Dr. Weeks serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at UNC Charlotte, as well as a professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. He is the editor of The Latin Americanist, a quarterly tri-lingual journal of Latin American history, literature, political science, and anthropology. His recent publications include: The Military and Politics in Postauthoriatian Chile, U.S. and Latin American Relations, Irresistible Forces: Explaining Latin American Immigration to the United States, and The Bachelet Government: Conflict and Consensus in Post-Pinochet Chile. Dr. Weeks also hosts “Understanding Latin American Politics: The Podcast” and runs a very active website, “Two Weeks Notice: A Latin American Politics Blog.” A full list of his works published can be found here.
