What began as a dream to bring Major League Soccer (MLS) to Charlotte has grown into a cornerstone of the city’s sports identity. The passion of its expanding fanbase, alongside the electric energy at Bank of America Stadium, proves time and time again that Charlotte is a soccer city.

And the timing couldn’t be better. The global spotlight is turning toward soccer with the FIFA World Cup 2026 coming to North America.  Charlotte will host the Scotland National Team as base camp and Bank of America Stadium will feature the US Men’s National Team for a friendly match against Senegal on May 31, 2026, ahead of the World Cup. The tournament will bring the world’s biggest stars to our doorstep, expanding soccer’s growth across the region. For fans in the Carolinas, it’s a once-in-a-generation moment to experience the game’s biggest celebration.

Interest is surging right now, new fans are joining the game, and communities in Charlotte are stepping onto the world stage. Sports bring people together and Charlotte FC is at the heart of it.
