Learn to Samba!
One of the best ways to learn about a country is not just through its music, but through the rhythm and movement it inspires. Dance has served as an artistic expression of society and political upheaval, storytelling, cultural euphemism, religious enlightenment, and more for hundreds of years.
Samba is a symbol of Brazilian identity, rooted in a dance style that combines West African movement and rhythm. The syncopated drum beat, which is crucial to the rhythm of the samba is recognizable during Brazil’s epic Carnival celebrations, where you’ll find dancers balancing majestic headdresses walking the streets in lavish exuberance.
Join in this unique opportunity to learn more about the world with dance and rhythmic movement with the NC Brazilian Arts Project.
