H.E. Arun K. Singh, Ambassador of India to the United States: India and the US: A 21st Century Global Partnership Ambassador Arun Singh will join the World Affairs Council of Charlotte on April 8th to share his perspectives about the significant progress that's been made in bilateral cooperation and international partnership between both India and the United States. President Obama has called India one of the "defining partnerships" of the 21st century, one which will be vital to U.S. strategic interests in Asia-Pacific and across the globe.

WACC Annual Meeting with U.S. Ambassador Mark Erwin (1999-2001), (June 17th, 2015)

Join the World Affairs Council of Charlotte on June 17th with U.S. Ambassador Mark Erwin who will share his perspectives on the renewed diplomatic ties between Cuba and the United States. In addition, he will address future opportunities for economic and cultural opportunities for the two nations while providing his assessment on the challenges that will arise as Cuba and the U.S. normalize relations. On April 11, 2015, Presidents Barack Obama and Raul Castro shook hands at the Summit of the Americas in Panama, marking the first meeting between a U.S. and Cuban head of state since the two countries cut their ties in 1961. This inaugural meeting came four months after the President announced that the U.S. would restore diplomatic ties with Cuba.

WACC Ambassadors Circle Series with H.E. Anne Anderson, Ambassador of Ireland to the U.S.

On March 17th, President Obama welcomed Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, Enda Kenny to the White House during his traditional St. Patrick's holiday visit to Washington, D.C. In his remarks at the White House, the Irish Prime Minister endorsed the comprehensive Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which would solidify the economic relationship between America and Europe. Taoiseach Kenny further shared his views on the positive engagement with the U.S. in matters related to regional security, immigration and diplomacy. U.S. relations with Ireland are based on common ancestral ties and shared values that have provided unique opportunities for strong friendship and partnership between both countries.
