Biography:
Chuck Harrington is executive chairman of Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN). Headquartered in Centreville, Va. Parsons operates globally in 26 countries with ~16,000 employees and is creating the future of national security and global infrastructure to deliver a better world.
Chuck joined Parsons, in 1982, as an engineer, advancing from technical work to project management duties on classified projects for the US Departments of Energy and Defense. He then progressed into business development and sales to federal government organizations and later became vice president and program manager of a multibillion-dollar project at the US Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site.
In 2006, Chuck was appointed to the position of executive vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer. Before that role, he was the founding president of Parsons Commercial Technology Group, leading Parsons into the biotechnology, semiconductor, and wireless communications markets. In 2008, Chuck became CEO and then chairman. He was named president of the corporation in 2009. Chuck was named executive chairman of Parsons in 2021 following his successful tenure as the company’s chairman and CEO.
Education
A native Californian, Chuck graduated with honors from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He then graduated with honors from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with a master’s degree in business administration, with concentrations in finance and marketing. Chuck also attended the Advanced Management Program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He also received an honorary doctorate degree from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo for accomplishments in the field of engineering.
Chuck serves on the boards of the J.G. Boswell Company (OTCMRKTS: BWEL, Audit and Compensation Committees) and the California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo Foundation (Audit, Executive and Investment Committees). Chuck previously served on the boards of the AES Corporation (NYSE: AES, Chaired Finance & Audit Committee), Business-Higher Education Forum, California Science Center Foundation Board of Trustees, UCLA Anderson School of Management, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Board of Trustees, Charlotte Regional Partnership, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Sports Council, and Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. He also served as chair of the California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo President’s Council of Advisors for five years.
Chuck is a 2020 recipient of Executive Mosaic’s prestigious Wash100 Award, presented to executives in the government contracting industry who display excellence in leadership, innovation, reliability, achievement, and vision. Chuck was also named a member of the Aerospace Industries Association in 2019, was honored by the New York Building Congress with a 2015 Industry Recognition Award, and has also served on the US President’s Council for Modernizing Government.
Chuck is a frequent speaker and has authored articles on leadership, integrity in the workplace, mobility and transport technology, and critical infrastructure protection.
