Dr. Fernando Reimers is the Director of both the Global Education Innovation Initiative and the International Education Policy Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. An expert in the field of Global Education, his research and teaching focus is on the relationship between education policy, innovation, leadership, and quality improvement to support children and youth in developing the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
The International Education Policy (IEP) Program explores some of the most challenging issues facing teachers and learners worldwide, such as teaching in refugee camps, girls education, and HIV/AIDS education. Students in the program learn how to develop policy recommendations and programs that promote peace, understanding, and empowerment.
IEP alumni are working for international development agencies like UNICEF, UNESCO, Save the Children, USAID, and the World Bank as policymakers within ministries of education worldwide, and as social entrepreneurs launching their own global education organizations.
