Mission

The Young Professionals of the World Affairs Council of Charlotte (YPWACC) are a network of internationally-minded professionals, ages 21 to 40s, in the Charlotte area who are committed to engaging in social and educational activities that promote global understanding. We are dedicated to providing young adults with opportunities to “explore the world in Charlotte” through global speaker lectures, networking and social events, film screenings, happy hour discussions, professional development workshops, and cultural dining experiences.

YPWACC Events and Programming

Drink About It Panel Series

YPWACC hosts local experts to speak on various international issues impacting the world today as a part of the Drink About It Series. These presentations enable young professionals to learn about and engage in discussions on topics ranging from global economy and foreign policy to in-depth country analysis and environmental issues.

Adventures in Dining

Join a group of globally minded and diverse individuals to try cuisines from around the world through our Adventures in Dining Series! YPWACC members get to explore a variety of international fare while networking and connecting with other young professionals. For a more “hands-on experience,” YPWACC also offers special international cooking classes with our expert chefs.

Global Social Hour

Meet up with YPWACC to network and mingle with other young professionals from various international careers and backgrounds through our Global Social Hour Series! Join us after hours for drinks at some of Charlotte’s most popular venues and cross-connect with other professionals in the community.

International Career Panel

Through the International Career Panel, discover global opportunities and career pathways by hearing from working professionals in fields such as business, law, education, non-profit and government. Panelists openly discuss their experiences and offer valuable guidance to those preparing to pursue international careers.

International Artists Workshop Series

Whether you are experienced or just curious, unleash your creativity and celebrate the power of global artistry through our International Artists Workshop Series. Each workshop offers a dynamic opportunity for young professionals to explore artistic traditions and techniques through hands-on creative projects while learning directly from international guest instructors.

Activity Mixers

YPWACC Activity Mixers are a great way to spark connection! Through fun, laid-back events, young professionals partake in globally-inspired activities that fuel creativity, and build community. Dive into something new and unwind while spreading culture and good vibes.

Meetup

In addition to our regularly scheduled line up, we organize excursions to international festivals in the Charlotte community such as Oktoberfest, the Greek Festival and the Beaujolais Festival through Meetup. Look for our group on Meetup and join our group to RSVP to our events or outings.

While all YPWACC events are open for anyone to attend, you can receive a discounted rate of $35/year membership with our parent organization, the World Affairs Council of Charlotte. With a Council membership, you are eligible to attend all WACC events at the extra discounted “YPWACC Member” rate.
