The World Affairs Council of Charlotte (WACC) was founded in 1983 as an outreach program of UNC Charlotte and its Office of International Programs. As a non-profit, non-partisan organization, it is supported by private funding from individual and corporate member dues and contributions.

As a regional center for education and discussion of world affairs, the Council seeks to provide leadership for global thinking, believing that a broad perspective is necessary for effective competition in the global economy and for responsible citizenship in the increasingly interdependent political world.

Membership with the World Affairs Council of Charlotte allows members to connect with other internationally-minded individuals, newcomers, students, and members of the Charlotte business community while keeping up-to-date on global developments at our programs. Learn about a wide range of international topics from ambassadors, heads of state, foreign dignitaries, experts on foreign affairs and other internationally renowned speakers when you sign up to become a member of the Council.

Becoming a member is simple. You can sign up online or call our office and pay via credit card or check. If you prefer mailing in your membership application with a check or card information, you can easily download the application here and mail it back to our office.

Join us in promoting global education in classrooms, fostering dialogue on international affairs, and deepening our community’s understanding of global issues affecting Charlotte and the world. Together, we can build a stronger, more globally connected community.
