Intern with the World Affairs Council of Charlotte!
The WACC internship program serves as an extension of our education mission, offering active undergraduate students an educational and dynamic experience. Our goal is to provide you with hands-on professional and practical skills, while providing lifelong experiences that will be helpful to you and your career in the future.
- Support Global Programming & Events*: Assist with event logistics, attendee engagement, photography, and in-person program operations while helping create a welcoming experience for WACC members and guests.
- Research & Global Content: Research and synthesize international current events, identify potential speakers and community partners, and develop written content for the online intern-led blog.
- Marketing & Communications: Create social media content, newsletters, program emails, and visual marketing materials for WACC and Young Professionals of WACC.
- Membership & Fundraising: Support membership outreach and donor retention initiatives, assist in maintaining membership records, and contribute ideas to strengthen member engagement and fundraising.
- Organizational Operations: Help maintain databases, prepare reports, organize internal resources, and support day-to-day administrative operations.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a small staff, WACC offers internship opportunities throughout the year to support our programs and international education initiatives. The internship program provides a flexible schedule of 10 hours per week, consisting primarily of remote work, in-person event attendance, and occasional in-office assignments. Positions may qualify for academic credit based on your school or program requirements. All internships are unpaid. The Council does reimburse parking costs at event venues and at our UNC Charlotte campus offices, except for interns who have a UNC Charlotte parking pass.
*All interns are expected to attend a minimum of 2 in-person Council programs as part of their experiential learning, unless waived by WACC’s internship coordinator.Â
