We have had a full year of leading innovative international education programs, promoting global knowledge and dialogue, and inspiring life-long learners within our community!
4,200 individuals attended the 41 WACC programs and events since January 2019
500 Charlotte-area high school students attended WACC programs this year
Charlotte Latin School took the lead over 220 students at Academic WorldQuest 2019, the annual international knowledge competition hosted by WACC, and will represent Charlotte at the national competition in Washington D.C. next spring
450 people participated in The Magellan Society, WACC’s young professionals group
135 local teachers have traveled internationally for professional development opportunities through the WACC Council Scholar Award Program
- H.E. Emily Haber, Ambassador of Germany to the U.S., discussed the current state of German-American relations, including developments on foreign policy and trade
- Tim Sloan, CEO and President of Wells Fargo & Co. (October 2016 – March 2019), gave his thoughts on the global economy and Wells Fargo’s place in the realm of financial services
- Jim Walsh, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, shared his insight on the global opioid crisis and examined the forces beyond U.S. borders that contribute to this cross-cultural epidemic
- H.E. Audrey Marks, Ambassador of Jamaica to the U.S., discussed the importance of American tourism to Jamaica’s economy and the bilateral partnership between Jamaica and the U.S. along with the future of diplomacy between the two countries
