According to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, the Charlotte region’s energy cluster is an economic force that is transforming the landscape of the energy industry. Companies such as Duke Energy, Siemens, Piedmont Natural Gas and AREVA are part of a thriving energy sector in our local economy. This unique discussion centered around energy future and sustainable and clean energy is relevant to the greater Charlotte area as we continue to grow as an energy hub in the Carolinas.

Video 1: What’s At Stake
We use a lot of energy. The problem is that it effects our world every day and many of the costs are not found in the price you pay at the pump or on your monthly bill. Take a look at how energy is changing the world around us and what we stand to face if we don’t start changing our habits.

Video 2: The Great Transition
Now that we know where we are and what’s at stake, let’s take a look at the future of energy and what the challenges are of getting there. The Great Transition is just a stepping stone to a wider discussion about the energy future and offer a look at some of the discussions we need to have and decisions that need to be made in order to get to the cleaner energy future

About the “Rational Middle Energy Series”
The Rational Middle Energy Series uses the medium of documentary film to open a discussion about the importance of energy issues regionally, nationally, and globally. By utilizing the power of film combined with compelling experts and fact-checked resources, The Rational Middle has become a powerful tool to incite action for the betterment of our communities, our economy, and the environment.

With the need to provide access to energy, food, and clean water for a growing global population, economic efficiency, security, and the threat of the effects of climate change inaction, the energy future is a topic that needs to be addressed. Our ability to face these challenges with civil, solutions-based discussions is crucial to finding solutions that will benefit all mankind.

The Rational Middle aims to jump start the discussion with a goal of creating change through individual, municipal, corporate, and government action.

Together, we can create the energy future.
