While culinary diplomacy is a relatively new field in the realm of international relations, the idea itself can be traced back to the ancient Romans, who often made peace with their enemies over a good meal. In the past decade, countries including Thailand, Peru, and South Korea have embraced the concept, independently launching country branding programs that promote their cuisines to the world.

The WACC Kitchen Diplomacy Series virtual cooking classes are a great way to create exciting recipes while learning about international cuisine at home! Chef Alyssa will teach you how to prepare each authentic Thai dish throughout the one-hour live class.

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen has locally sourced and carefully selected the ingredients for the optional box and it is packed with everything you need to make the recipes with the video instruction; portions will feed 2 to 3 people.

Ingredient box includes: Shipley Farms beef, Springer Mountain chicken thighs, all specialty herbs and spices, fresh wide rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, condiments and sauces.

Menu:

  • Laap Gai – Issan style seasoned ground chicken “salad” with galangal paste, lots of herbs, chili and crisp lettuce.
  • Pad See Ew– Classic stir-fried wide noodle dish with Chinese broccoli and beef.
