The world we live in is in rapid transformation. Events from around the globe affect us in ways that are difficult to predict as we become increasingly interdependent on each other.

It’s without a doubt that World Affairs Council of Charlotte programming offers much needed context so that we have a better understanding about the intricacies of foreign policy, global security, population and demographic changes, economic and trade agreements, governance and conflict and how they influence our lives.

As we continue promoting the importance of international education and a broader understanding of world affairs, your tax-deductible donation is vital to our mission to help you and your neighbors connect the big dots in what is becoming a very small world.

Donation Options

$40 Sponsor one middle school or high school student to attend a WACC Speaker Series, Ambassador Circle Series or CEO Series program.

Your contribution will fund the participation of one Charlotte-area student at a Council program, which includes a lunch and opportunity to listen to and speak with world-renowned speakers and experts.




$75 Sponsor “Cookies and Lemonade” at the 2017 International Career Panel hosted by The Magellan Society (YPs of the World Affairs Council of Charlotte) and UNC Charlotte’s Office of International Programs

Your contribution will provide light food and beverages during the networking session at the International Career Panel. This program helps Charlotte-area graduating seniors discover international opportunities and career pathways by hearing from early-career professionals who work in fields such as business, law, education, non-profit and government, and offer valuable guidance to those preparing to pursue careers with global elements and themes.




$300 Sponsor one high school student table at Academic WorldQuest 2017

Your contribution will fund the participation of eight students from one Charlotte-area high school to compete in the largest global knowledge competition of its kind in the Carolinas.




$500 Sponsor a student table at a WACC Speaker Series, Ambassadors Circle Series or CEO Series program

Your contribution will help fund the attendance of eight Charlotte-area middle school or high school students and two teachers at a Speaker Series or Ambassadors Circle Series program.




$500 Support the “Young Explorers Essay” Competition (CMS)

Your contribution will help fund the cost of Kindles for winners of the essay competition and a district-wide ceremony recognizing all the students who participated in the competition.




$750 Support the WACC’s international education outreach

Your contribution will help fund the Council’s collaboration and student engagement within Charlotte-area schools and higher education institutions.




$1000 Support the WACC’s Speak Series, Ambassadors Circle Series and CEO Series Program

Your contribution will help us cover the costs associated with the recruitment of foreign dignitaries and international experts to Charlotte for our WACC Speaker Series, Ambassadors Circle Series, CEO Series and Voyagers Club program. Costs associated with WACC programming include speaker travel and lodging, food and beverage expenditures, marketing and promotional material, and transportation.




$2500 Support the 2016-2017 Council Scholar Award program

Your contribution will help fund one teacher’s professional development through study abroad. This program recognizes outstanding Charlotte area teachers, grades K-12, who have demonstrated a commitment to in international education.




$6000 Academic WorldQuest 2017

Your contribution enables the participation of 25 high schools at AWQ 2017. This cost includes food and beverages for 300 participants (including teachers) and logistical costs. In addition, these funds will help subsidize the winning school’s trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the national Academic WorldQuest competition in 2018.
