Join the World Affairs Council of Charlotte on December 7th as we host Dr. Todd Moss. Moss is an expert in international development, leading the Center for Global Development’s research focused on US-Africa relations, energy policy, and private investment. He has also served with the Bureau of African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, the World Bank, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), and the Overseas Development Council.

In addition his expertise on Africa, energy, and development, Moss is also known as the author of the Judd Ryker novel series, a gripping fictional international thriller, influenced by his international experiences. Join us as he sheds light on evolving U.S. policy toward global economic development and poverty under the new administration.

Biography

Dr. Todd Moss, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under Condoleezza Rice, is now senior fellow at the Center for Global Development and a nonresident scholar at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute. His research focuses on U.S.-Africa relations, energy policy, and private investment. Todd previously worked at Georgetown University, the London School of Economics, and the World Bank. He’s the author of  African Development: Making Sense of the Issues and Actors (2011) and  Oil to Cash: Fighting the Resource Curse with Cash Transfers (2015)Todd has a PhD from the University of London’s SOAS and a BA from Tufts University. Todd is also the author of the Judd Ryker international thriller series from Penguin Putnam Books about a State Department crisis manager, including The Golden Hour (2014), Minute Zero (2015), Ghosts of Havana (2016), and The Shadow List (2017).
